SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BridgeWave Communications, Inc. announces that the City of Oxnard, California has installed four BridgeWave GE60 gigabit wireless bridges to ensure network continuity throughout city building reconstruction. BridgeWave point-to-point wireless links connect LANs between buildings at full-rate Gigabit Ethernet LAN speeds, with the security and reliability of fiber cabling. "I needed a fiber alternative solution that could be quickly implemented, would support the rigid building construction plans and avoid any potential fiber cuts that might be caused by the heavy equipment moving around the area. Backhoes and bulldozers are threats to any terrestrial fiber connection and my team did not have the time or money to install alternative fiber routes," stated Tara Willis, the City's IT Systems Administrator.
The company, started in 1941 by Joseph E. Staub as a remodeling business, has grown into a $200 million construction company, one of the largest in the South. And Jesco does more than just put up buildings its services also include engineering, mechanical-electrical and industrial, a millwright, metal buildings and steel fabrication. Jerry Maxcy, the companys vice president-building division manager, said Jesco was primarily a general contracting company in the 1960s and 70s, with about $20 million in revenue. But Mr. Staub found a lot of companies who wanted to move from the North to the South who needed not only help with buildings, but with putting equipment in, he said. The millwright was set up, and later the other divisions were developed. Jescos handiwork is familiar to Northeast Mississippians.
OUR shortcoming in building construction is nothing new. As we are always in a mood to violate building codes and try to minimise basic construction costs, hardly any building is constructed properly. These are not built keeping in mind the question of safety and security of their residents. The builders' focus always remains on decorative things so that people get attracted by eye-catching tiles, fittings, cabinet etc. But the important matters -- like proper air circulation within rooms, strong foundation, installation of fire extinguishing equipment, earthquake safety measures, making the buildings fire-proof -- are not given due importance by the builders whether they are real estate businessmen or private builders. The common tendency in the buyers side is that they look for a well-furnished flat, which is affordable with their income or the house-building loan.
