DELPHI -- When the Delphi Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge couldn't sell their building at 209 S. Washington Street, they decided to do the next best thing: restore it. The Odd Fellows building, erected in 1880, is home to The Flower Shoppe II, Jerry's Barbershop and the American Legion Post #75, all located on the first floor. The lodge, which boasts 70 members, is on the second floor. "We used to meet on the third floor," said Lodge financial secretary Don Burkhalter. The program provides matching funds up to $5,000 towards the restoration of a downtown building faade to its original appearance. The Odd Fellows Lodge received the maximum grant of $5,000 to assist in the construction project.
President Traian Basescu said the rate of construction imposed by U.S.-based Bechtel on the Transilvania Highway must not respect the rule by which "when winter comes we no longer work." "We must eliminate the rule according to which during winter, the construction sector is dead. We can excavate, work on the foundations, because we must eliminate the old Romanian rule," said Basescu. The president believes that if the Ministry of Transportation decides the company does not have the capacity to work properly, there will be a way to renounce the services offered by Bechtel. In late June, Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu asked Bechtel to speed up works on the Transilvania Highway. Tariceanu said, during his visit to a construction site in Cluj County that works needed to be sped up so that the Cluj-Oradea section is ready first.

The first free public library sponsored by Provo city opened its doors on January 2, 1906. This library received the support of the public from the very beginning, and the number of books it housed grew continuously, as did the number of books circulated. The Provo City Library Board anticipated that the new library would soon outgrow its small room in the basement of the old county courthouse. Dr. Fred W. Taylor, the library board's president, told the city council the library would willingly vacate the basement room at any time. The year 1907 began with a demonstration of public support for the library. The women's clubs of Provo, including the Relief Societies, YMIA, Primary, Utah Sorosis, Nineteenth Century Club, Women of Woodcraft and others, organized a benefit entertainment and earmarked all of the proceeds for the library.
