Texas Trophies will be expanding this month, thanks to a construction loan from Security Service Federal Credit Union that was secured through the U.S. Small Business Administration. San Antonio-based Security Service began offering small business loans in 1995, but it wasn't until just a few years ago that federal credit unions could offer SBA loans. Now, Security Service is an industry leader. "There's only six credit unions in Texas doing SBA loans now," said Security Service spokesman John Worthington. "We're ranked No.1 in Texas and we're 15th out of 98 nationally." The owners of Texas Trophies — Lorraine and Jesse Pope — said their experience getting an SBA loan through Security Service was better than it was when they went through a conventional bank for an SBA loan to build their first shop in 1993.
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fitch Ratings assigns an 'A-' rating to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, CA's (the Tribe) $230 million senior secured notes, series 2006 and downgrades to 'A-' from 'A' the rating on the Tribe's outstanding $19.5 million of revenue bonds, series 2003, which are on parity with the notes. The Rating Outlook is Stable. The downgrade of the 2003 bonds is primarily based on the potential that already stiff competitive pressures of the southern California gaming market will continue to increase going forward as many Tribes, including Agua Caliente, are seeking approval to increase the number of permitted gaming devices under their state compacts. Partially offsetting this concern is Fitch's belief that the Tribe is well positioned to maintain strong operating results in the face of these increasing competitive pressures.
Construction for the Sulphur Springs Union School District's ninth school could begin as early as next month, school officials said Wednesday night. The school board voted unanimously to accept PW Construction Inc.'s $13 million bid over four others because it was lowest in price. Other estimates were significantly higher, with one bid reaching upward of $17 million. The construction company was highly recommended, as it successfully built an $8.2 million junior high school in Anaheim and a $7 million middle school in Azusa. "People have been very happy. (There has) been a low number of change orders. They have not built anything in this area, but they are expanding," said Vicky Myers, assistant superintendent of business for the district. Still without a name, the elementary school will be located off Via Princessa near Highway 14, relatively close to the district's Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School.
