Govt fails to complete work of Swadhinata Stambha

Even after the procrastination of consecutive 5 years the authorities concerned has failed to complete the construction work of Swadhinata Stambha at Shawrawardi Uddan in the capital city.
The Tk 1.29 billion project of constructing a Swadhinata Stambha was taken by the previous government at fag end of its tenure and was not able to float tender for completing the construction work.
After assuming power in 2001 the present coalition government has not shown any keen interest to start the formal procedure to start the construction work.
At one stage it was about to cancel the project but due to the political consideration it curtailed the project to Tk 1.0 billion.
Though it floated tender several times for starting the construction work of the main Swadhinata Stambha, it has been cancelled and the construction work of Swadhinata Stambha remained a mirage over the years.

Sioux Falls Construction Update

Road Construction blocked and barricaded drivers in Sioux Falls this summer from driving in certain areas of town. But many of those projects are now winding down. The main artery on the west side is in its final phases of construction. West 12th Street at I-29 is right on schedule to be completed by November 15th Drivers can now go straight through on West 12th Street, but on- and off-ramps to the interstate are still under construction. Drivers can exit onto 12th Street from Northbound I-29, though. Four out of five Sioux Falls drainage projects are also right on time... in fact, one is already done. 33rd and Duluth was finished last Friday. Pendar Lane, south of McKennan Park, is set to be done this Saturday, October 14th. The area of 13th and Kiwanis is now about 97% complete, and will likely meet its November 15th deadline. Exactly one month later, on December 15th is when the 30th and Covell project will probably be done...

Sitting unsold

Builder Dan Tingen found out firsthand about the national housing slowdown when it took three tries this summer to sell a house in Wake Forest. The first miss came in July, when a couple moving to the area from Atlanta contracted to buy the $410,000 house, only to back out when their home in Georgia did not sell. Next, a couple moving from Northern Virginia put the house under contract. Same problem. "It was two bad experiences with three buyers to close one house," said Tingen, who finally found a buyer in late September.Tingen, the president of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County, said that in his 26 years in business, he has had only a handful of customers back out. Other builders and brokers have had the same experience.Talk to anyone in the local housing industry and you'll hear how job growth and moderate interest rates have kept the Triangle housing market humming at a record pace since 2003.
